An eccentric millionaire named Frederick Loren (Vincent Price) organizes a party at the request of his wife, Annabelle (Carol Ohmart), inviting five strangers to a mansion he has rented. Loren promises to give them $ 10,000 each if they stay inside the mansion all night. However, the house carries a past of brutal murders, in addition to the rumors of being haunted. The guests are Lance Schroeder (Richard Long), a pilot; Watson Pritchard (Elisha Cook), owner of the house whose brother was murdered in her time ago; David Trent (Alan Marshal), a psychiatrist; Ruth Bridgers (Julie Mitchum), a columnist; and Nora Manning (Carolyn Craig), a secretary who to support her family works for Frederick Loren. Upon arrival, Loren explains that they will be locked in the house all night, without electricity or telephones, warning them that if they give up they will not receive the money promised. It is then when paranormal events begin to happen that will frighten the guests.
